Tenants v Kopley Group V, L.P.

Chicago Renters' Rights Class Action

The alleged class consists of more than 250 renters at a large Chicago apartment building at 5200 N Sheridan, managed by the Kopley Group.

In this case it is alleged that the landlord illegally mortgaged tenants' security deposits and prepaid rent, and failed to disclose certain code violations in writing when entering into leases.

Damages equal to two-times each tenants' security deposit are sought, plus damages equal to one-month's rent for alleged failures to disclose recent building code violations before tenants entered into leases.

The case still pends.  If you have information about prepaid rent, subletting policies, or lease renewals without disclosure of building code violations or interest payment at 5200 N Sheridan in Chicago, contact mark@depositlaw.com
