Did your Chicago landlord pay interest on your security deposit every 12 months?

A Chicago landlord's failure to pay security deposit interest or prepaid rent every 12 months by cash or rent-credit may entitle the renter to damages equal to double their security deposit amount.

This double-deposit-sized award of damages does not include the renter's security deposit.
